SHIFA FOUNDATION

Shifa Foundation is a non-government organization registered under the Societies Act of 1860 (no. RS/ICT/142 of 1991) as a national non-profit entity in Pakistan. It was established in 1991 dedicated to enable the deprived communities and population to realize their fundamental rights to health, education, livelihood, and citizenship with dignity. Within this spectrum, it works in thematic areas including MNCH, Management of Malnutrition (Nutrition Specific & Nutrition Sensitive)Child protection & GBV, Food Security & Livelihood (FSL), Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Rehabilitation of healthcare facilities, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Education and humanitarian assistance during disasters.

PARTERNSHIP AND FUNDING

Since its inception (1991) Shifa Foundation endeavors support the underprivileged and downtrodden communities through different humanitarian and development projects in Sindh (Mirpurkhas, Shaheed Banazirabad, Tando Allahyar, Umerkot, Sanghar, Tharparkar, Jamshoro, Khairpur), Punjab (Lodhran, Rajanpur, Rawalpindi), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Peshawar, Mardan, Nowshera& Swabi) and Gilgit Baltistan. In partnership with UN agencies including UNFPA, UNICEF, WFP, UNOCHA, WHO, Concern World-wide, Nutrition Support Program Government of Sindh, Nutrition International, kfw Bank and Health Care Commission Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shifa Foundation implemented numerous numbers of projects and served more than six million individuals in different spheres contribute in creating conducive environment for all.

ORGANIZATIONAL AND INSTITUATIONAL CAPICITY

Shifa Foundation has countrywide outreach and developed strong linkages with stakeholders at grassroots level and good working relationship with donors and government line departments to ensure good service delivery and reach the needy. Good governance, competent and expert personnel at organizational and implementation level, sound Finance, M&E, Operations, Logistics &Procurement are the assets of Shifa Foundation which strengthened the organization and enabled to provide quality services as per international standards. Shifa Foundation has always received Low Risk Category in UN Micro assessments because of its strong Governance and internal controls. The Internal Audit Unit is reporting directly to the Board of Governors (BoGs) through its Audit Committee and Compliance Unit. The compliance unit is responsible for quality assurance to meet the international standards.

Shifa Foundation performs yearly audit of its finances from recognized auditing firms and reports with the stakeholders and evaluate its programmatic activities share the lesson learned and replicate the successful models.
